- Westside Regional Medical Center was one of the first hospitals in Broward County to perform robotic surgery. Dr. Paul Kahn was the first to use Westsides daVinci robot by doing a radical prostatectomy on September 18, 2006.
- Cardiac surgeons from Peru, China, Japan, and the U.S. converged on Westside Regional Medical Center on Jan. 31, 2007 to witness a pioneering cardiac surgical technique. Cardiovascular surgeon Harold G. Roberts Jr. had performed similar operations about a dozen times before, utilizing the cutting-edge daVinci Robot Surgical System to cure atrial fibrillation. However, this was the first time that the procedure, known as robotic endoscopic Cox-cryomaze, was performed without the patient's heart first being arrested.
- The robot at Westside Regional Medical Center was named, Leo, after Leonardo DaVinci.
